Social coverage of Oberlin’s day in the path of totality.

I helped pitch the OCLIPSE name and finalized the social strategy with the director of social strategy. I coordinated content, wrote and published most of the posts, led real-time coverage on location, and helped select photos for the recaps.

The moment

Oberlin sat in the path of totality for the April 2024 solar eclipse. Thousands of students, faculty, and residents stepped outside to watch the sky together.

The problem

The coverage needed to explain the eclipse before it happened, then show how campus and town experienced it together.

How we approached the coverage

  1. Before totality

I helped plan the social coverage, wrote copy for an expert-led video, and prepared an archival photo montage.

  2. On location

I led real-time social coverage and coordinated content as the eclipse unfolded.

  3. The recap

I helped select photographs of the people and gatherings across campus and town for the photo wrap-ups.
