The moment

Daily community management backed by clear rules.
I manage daily engagement, moderate discussions, verify membership requests, and wrote the group’s moderation framework. I also revised the community rules and built colleague review into sensitive decisions.
The moment
In the Oberlin Alumni Digital Community on Facebook, I answer questions, publish prompts, review member requests and pending posts, and help alumni connect with the college and one another.

The problem
A large alumni group needs consistent decisions about membership, posts, and comments. Sensitive cases need a second review.
I answer questions, respond to feedback, and direct members to the right information.
I track recurring questions, corrections, and topics alumni want to discuss.
I apply the group rules to member requests, posts, and comments.
I revised the rules so members and moderators know what belongs in the group.
I ask a colleague to review sensitive or ambiguous decisions.
I documented the process so other Communications staff can moderate consistently.

Why it matters
Answering questions and handling disagreements are part of the same job. Clear guidelines and a second review help me respond consistently without making sensitive decisions alone.
From 2023 to 2026, the Oberlin Alumni Facebook community grew 23%. The moderation framework now gives the Communications team a shared process for decisions.
